Well, Thad Won It Again...

I guess all of those cross-over McDaniel votes for Childers couldn't push him over the top. :D

I was a blessed day in that it appears the GOP picked up at least 7 Senate seats to take over the Senate (has the potential to be more when all the smoke settles). They picked up enough House seats to help Obama set the modern times record for most House seats lost under a sitting president. Congrats to the president on that accomplishment.

Now, we have the official kickoff for State elections in Mississippi for 2015.

Word is that Phil Bryant will eventually face Brandon Presley, a democrat from Nettleton. Rumors abound the Tate Reeves biggest competition may come from Delbert Hosemann in the primary for the Lt. Governor spot. Tate has burned a lot of bridges in the last few years, so that could be interesting. Rumors also abound that the only statewide elected democrat in office, Jim Hood, may not seek re-election. Pretty much any republican with a law degree would throw their hat in the ring on that one.

Lastly, in response to the GOP taking back Congress, word out of the WH is that Obama is determined to give amnesty to the illegals in the country via executive order by Christmas. As opposed to moving to the center, like Clinton, and leaving on a high note, he is doubling down on the reason his party no longer controls congress in the first place. Amazing.

Ol Delbert already said the he was going to run for his same position again.

Now, i do understand things change......but he seems like a pretty straightforward honest guy.

With the exception of using his current position to do some shady opposition research on McDaniel's voting records to use against him in the Rep. primary had Thad retired instead of running you mean?

No politician is "straightforward" or "honest". There is no such thing. If there were, they wouldn't call themselves politicians.

Are voting records not public information?

I'm not sure if they are. even if they are, having his employees do the research on the taxpayers dime isn't cool in my book. Just my opinion. Again, there are no "Honest"politicians. They can't get elected.

I agree with you if that is what happened - Delbert ordered his staff to pull McDaniel's records because he was doing inside work for Cochran. That said, voting records are public record and are subject to a simple public records request, which the Secretary of State has to honor by law. It is my understanding that McDaniel's voting record was the subject of a public records request by someone outside of the SoS office.

Context is everything.
