So my 2008 GMC stock speakers are dying. I am going to replace the 4 doors with something better, but not going to put in a system or anything. What brand of speakers do you all recommend?

Crutchfield has a pretty good deal today on these Infinitys (buy one get one) and thought about doing that.

Anything is better than stock. I recently pur some Alpines in my busted Ford door speakers and they sound great. A lot sharper and clearer than stock.

I don't see how you could go wrong with infinity's. I replaced some in a truck several years back and used JL audio speakers and was pleased, but I think if you go with any well known brand you will be happy.

Yeah they're all pretty good, I have pioneer 3 ways in mine right now. Match the Head unit RMS wattage to the speakers. Don't go buy 200 watt 4 ways only to push 15 RMS to them.

You may already know this, but before you replace your door speakers, make sure your doors are sealed good to keep rainwater out. Our 2008 Silverado work (POS) truck was leaking water inside of the door panels and eventually it caused the speakers to go out.

Any of them will be a huge improvement. Good thing about Crutchfield is they come with the adapters to keep from cutting factory wiring and the instructions for door panel removal. Like edub said don't get any rated for basically over 100w RMS.

Went with those Infinitys which are 5-75w RSM (I don't know what RSM means).

"Real Super Manly" ratings....you need the 75w to make up for your lack of manliness.

Good luck getting those front door panels off. I tried it on my 2010 and ended up aborting the mission. Managed to get it back on but the door has rattled ever since.

RMS
Literally "root mean square." A DC voltage that will produce the same heating effect (power output in Watts) as the AC voltage. For a sine wave, the RMS value is equal to 0.707 times the peak value of an AC voltage. Example: divide Peak-to-Peak by 2 (or in half) and multiple by 0.707 = RMS voltage.

Basically it's the average amount of continuous power that should be pushed to the speaker to achieve optimal sound quality without diminishing the speakers life. Most factory HU's push about 10-15RMS. Aftermarkets may push around 20 or so. some of the newer HU's are incorporating larger amps so that they can push a little higher RMS.

I believe the kit from Crutchfield comes with all the door panel removal tools and detailed instructions. First one will take a while, the second will go much quicker usually. I thought Chevy's just came stock with the rattles.

You can also look on You Tube to see a detailed video on how to remove those door panels. I have done a lot of projects that i was afraid to tackle, but by looking at You Tube it made most of them fairly easy.

Oh, I was following a video. Video said to pull hard. I stopped when the panel was folded over like a piece of bread. I was actually intending to swap out the door handles.

I find that everything pops loose WAY easier in those videos than it does for the first time in real life.
