Wader Repair??

I didn't want to jack Huntersmky's thread about Waders so i decided i would start a new one to ask my question.
I am in the process of repairing a hole in my waders (I could stick my finger through it so it was fairly good sized). I am using Shoe Goo and my question is how many coats or applications do you put on each side?
The package said something like 4 for waterproofing, and i have applied 2 coats so far, but i was wondering if any of you had seen the need for more the recommended 4? Or maybe had noticed that 4 may be too many?
