...in trying to get this place hopping again? New contest or something? Ideas? Too busy? Lost interest?

I need to put a sticky note on the door going to my garage that says "camera". There are so many pics I can't get with my phone that I see all the time, but I haven't snapped a photo with my camera in ages. Rarely tke it anywhere. Gotta do better...

Me too. I try to keep mine in the truck, but end up not as much as I am scared it will get lifted. I'll post a few I've taken in the last while.

For those that leave their camera in their truck, what do you do to protect against the heat? I've often thought about leaving mine in my truck, but worry about the heat causing any problems.

Mine is either in a Pelican case or my waterproof camera bag that has enough padding to serve as a little insulation. Even when it is a bluemillion degrees in the truck in the summer my gear seems to stay at a reasonable temperature. Have never had any trouble. I wonder, too, though what, if anything, the heat could do to a camera and just how hot it would have to get to be a problem.

When in the field working, i have laptops, camera, high dollar gps equipment in my truck. I'm always concerned about it even though the specs for most this equipment says it good from -21 to 145 degrees. Its probably fairly easy for a truck in full summer heat to get close to 145 deq or even higher. The gps is in an insulated case which helps but the laptop and other items are not.
Sometimes i will leave my truck running (for hours) with the ac on if its really bad.
I know my situation is not the norm but i was curious about this also..........at what temp do you actually start damaging equipment from heat......

Any interest....

when we left the puck gps on the dash all summer the heat cycles eventually melted the cheap solder and sealer on the boards inside ($35 usb puck unit from china), which killed it. when testing ipad apps, in direct sunlight on the screen, and 98-99 degrees out, it didn't take but 10min or so on ipad2 and 15-20min on ipad3 to go into protective overheat mode (black screen w/msg)...didn't matter if the window was up or not...as long as it was in shade it was ok, unless doing really heavy processing and no ac running (redrawing raster images w/lots of vector data).
