What do ya'll think would be a good long range hog killer. And by long range I'm talking 500-1000 yards. They are getting wise to a .270 & 7mm now. I need to get Quigley down under on them.

.338 would be excellent but I don't see why the 7mag or .300 win mag wouldn't do the trick. Watched a 900 lb elk drop where it was standing at around 600 yds with a 7mag 139 gr Hornady.

Can you just get downwind of them and sneak closer so you can continue using what you have?

Yep, if the 7 mag wont work, 338 and 50 BMG are the only ones left, practically.

Take the money you would spend on a new rifle and get a suppressor. They won't know what hit them!!!

This is what I was thinking, but the price of ammo is the only hold up. I need to be able to kill them anytime I see them. A suppressor is in the works, but I need more options than one.

300 Win Mag and some good glass will do the trick..

Do they make a scope with enough elevation adjustment for a 35-cal at 1k?

7mm mag should do it have you tried sighting it in at that distance?
If you are going to start over the cheapest option would be a .308 you can find a lot of nice guns for sale in that caliber used with good glass to get the job done for 2K or less.
Another option and my preferred is a 6.5 creedmoor. I dropped one in its tracks at 923 yards about a month ago. However keep in mind past 500 yards the gun isn't nearly as critical as the glass and that's not nearly as critical as the shooter. If you haven't ever shot that far it will take a while to get proficient at that range, especially this time of year with the wind.

Jeff, what gun do you have in the Creedmor?
