Blue Wings

I'm in the south delta and with the backwater rising I find my place fully flooded and then some. Yesterday it was loaded with ducks, mostly blue wings and gadwalls, with a few mallards and shovelers. Always nice to see ducks using your habitat on the trip back up as well. Anybody else seeing the bluewings?

Was on a place in SE AR yesterday and was shocked at the number of mallards still around. Strong duck numbers in general but at least 25% of the 2-4k birds on this 1000 acres were mallards.

Sure was fun letting all those birds pile in and buzz me while I worked on habitat.

If I had to bet, I'd say the everglades, but they could have easily went to Cuba or the Yucatan. There were a couple of flocks on the lake for a while around a month ago, but they've been gone for a couple weeks. I was kind of surprised to see these. They were hanging out with the coots, of course.

Cajun Squeeler - what takes you to Tampa? I thought you might have left the state, but I was not sure where you ended up.

I'm in Canada this week & have only seen 2 ducks. Either they're not back yet or they're busy doing what they do this time of year. :D
