First day home bird

I work offshore and in Houston so I missed the two weeks before to do any scouting and the first two weeks of season this year the way my rotation fell. So I wasn't really expecting the first few days to be more than scouting sessions. I got home last Wednesday and went Thursday morning. My dad said he had heard one from the back porch a week before I got home around my 40 acres I have so I decided to go there. He gobbled about 640i n a reed break on my aunts 40 next to mine. And continued to gobble at everything that made a noise until he flew down. At 700 he pitched down in the thinned pines about 100 yards to me left and put on a show for the next 45 minutes. After a little calling and a lot of neck strains he finally saw the decoy under the hill and made his way in range and I put my hands on him at 730. 10" beard 1 1/4" 19 lbs
