Is there a fault line that runs through there? When I saw the report on the news, nothing jumped out as to why a quake in that area.
Never assume.

We heard felt it twice at my house. Pretty eerie feeling actually. Had no idea what it was until the report hit the www. The closest fault I've ever heard about was near Memphis.

It's the New Madrid fault I believe.
This link shows the fault line in one of the images.

If you have never read up on the New Madrid Fault you should.. This is a major fault line with 8.0 magnitude quacks in the early 1800's..

You might want to consider Earthquake Insurance on your house..

There's an earthquake research center at the University of Memphis. They focus mainly on the New Madrid fault I believe. I am morbidly curious to experience an earthquake. A 3.0 will suffice. Just enough to feel it but without damage.

I experienced a 4.3 or something in Afghan. Stuff was rattling on the walls pretty good, but I thought it was one of those damn planes buzzing my barracks again...until i realized that I never heard that plane. Turned out it was an earthquake.

3.0 will be anticlimactic.
I had the blue balls after going through the 3.2.

I ran accross this article a few years back. Really got me thinking.. If a big quake hit the mid west we would be in for a long recovery due to the major gas and oil lines that traverse this region..

^^ good read. It makes me also think about the economic impacts far from the epicenter. If those few road and rail bridges which cross Big Muddy became impassible, national commerce impacts would be crippling.
Never assume.
