I have an older Savage that the stock is all scared up and scratched.
I put some Strip Ease on it and got all the business off and down to the wood grain. It's sanded and I used some 004 steel wool on it. It's ready to be dressed up now.
What you recommend now. True oil? Linseed oil??

Re: Project gun
All depends on what you want the finish to look like. True-Oil is going to be a high gloss finish if I remember. Linseed is just an oil rubbed finish.
There are a plethora of options to use depending on your desired outcome.
