Surprised the boat held the rear of the truck up, seen similar happen at Tommy's on the Rez.

That ramp was steeper than most. Makes you pay for it a lot faster if you forget to untie the transom straps.

I like how he had his windshield wipers on.

I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when he felt his back tires lift.

Wipers were funny, but why in the hell did he stay in the truck so long to where he had to bust the back glass out to get himself out after going under?!?!?!?!?!?!


I do agree though, sitting at a boat ramp is some of the finest free entertainment a person can find.

I've said it to my friends, one of the best ways you could spend a holiday weekend is in a comfortable chair, with a cooler of beer overlooking a major boat launch. Probably won't see something like this, but you are almost guaranteed to see a boat roll off a trailer when they back down the ramp or someone's boat will almost sink b/c they forgot to put the plug in. Mixed in with multiple drunken mishaps at the end of the day.

Still can't believe how A) the boat floated so well with a trailer hooked to it B) it had enough additional buoyancy to lift the back tires off the ground C) kept floating with a 5000lb anchor (truck) hooked to it (though I assume the truck's bumper was touching bottom). That's one reason why I'll never launch a boat in a vehicle without 4wd. Though I also plan to unhook the transom straps to my boat which would completely avoid this situation.

Yep got to witness the last 20 minutes an hour long attempt to put a pontoon on a trailer Memorial Day weekend. They first attempted to pull the pontoon up the ramp with a John Deere Gator for 30 minutes. Then a 2 wheel drive Silverado. With the truck it would get about halfway up the ramp and start smoking the tires. So they got the bright idea to push the truck part of the way up the ramp with a running go and the motor pegged. They almost made it then had to drop back and try again. This time the pontoon is teetering on falling off the trailer and they broke two of the trailer bunks. Finally they tried the running go approach again and burned 20k miles off their tires but got up the ramp to a loud round of applause by the gallery. Never a dull moment at the boat ramp.

I would imagine not. Not only did everybody at the dock get to witness it but it was a slow news day. Now the news reporter wants the guys comments. I crawl inside a dark hole and disappear for a few days as well.

One of the best I witnessed was similar to that. It was at a lake off of the MS river in Memphis when the river was super low. That meant the boat ramp was way longer than normal. This brotha in a ghetto 4wd Tahoe (started out almost 4wd anyhow) trying to pull up and equally ghetto ski boat. It then became 2wd, when only one front wheel, and one rear wheel seemed to be getting power after something snapped on one front wheel and the other started vibrating viciously when he tried mashing the pedal down smoking the few tires that would spin. Then the other front wheel gave out and it became 1wd. He was basically dead in the water until we suggested he try to "slalom" up the ramp side to side to avoid going straight up the steep (but very wide) ramp. He finally made it after 30 mins and I heard his truck making godawful noises as it drove away.
