I'm getting a lab pup from a friend in Wichita Kansas. Other than us meeting half way (+-5 hr drive for both of us) are there any other options? Anybody happen to be coming home from a pheasant hunt near Wichita or something? Gonna cost +-$100 in gas and a day of driving for both of us. Any suggestions on getting dog shipped? I live in Hernando. Could pick up in Memphis.

You should be able to ship the dog via passenger plane like Delta cheaper than the drive. I have heard of people doing this in the past. Though I'll admit, it would be a leap of faith for me to trust the airline like that.

Do you have to have it by a certain day? I'll be making that trip in December.

Look on the Retriever Training Forum, there are a number of reputable dog transporters. When I got my pup from Kansas, I think it cost around 3 bills to have her delivered to my house. Adventure Bound Gundogs was the transporter.
