How to set a pit so that it won't float up. We are going to buy a couple one of these days and I just want to know how to do it right. Thanks.

We put in 2 new ones last year and filled them with water.....no problems so far. With all the rain we are having I'd weight it down.

It needs wings. The floors on all the ones we have built are wider and longer than the actual inside of the pit. They're reinforced good and then hold the dirt good once buried. The guy above mentioned filling it with water, but what about hunting season when you need to hunt out of it and the ground is at its wettest? That's when it's gonna pop out.

That's my buddy, Jeremy Glass. Great guy and good product. 95% of the pits I've hunted out of are BDV.

The bat wings are there to hold the pit in place. Every pit I've seen pop out of the ground did not have this option.

So are they enough by themselves to hold the pit in the ground?

Yes sir. I've seen hundreds of those pits get built and hunted out of 25-30 of them. Never seen one pop out. The local trackhoe guys even tell the landowners to make sure the wings are on the pit otherwise they don't even want to put them in the ground because they'll have to come back.
