I'm gonna purchase a game cam soon. I use to use home brews but once the cameras broke it isn't economical to fix em. I haven't used one in years cause it took the fun out of hunting for me. Now that I am just a guide for kids I believe it could be beneficial in identifying camp legal bucks for the kids in a quick manner. What are y'all using. Would like to keep it ~ $100. Will pay more if necessary.

Took the fun out of it? They're the only thing that keep me from quitting. If not for the camera , I'd not believe there were any left.

So on the first link that Teul posted, he recommended some Gen2 880s. I have (6) of the Gen1 versions, and all of them are still ticking strong. Spend the money on a good charger and eneloop batteries, and you're set to go.
For me, using rechargeable is a no-brainer. When I visit the camp, if the cam has been setup over two weeks, I just change them without worrying about how much juice is left in the batteries. If I were using alkaline batteries, I'd feel like I'm throwing away money by taking them out early, then if there was an extended period before I got back to the camera it might die because I didn't change them on the previous visit.
