Very intriguing and scary IMO for our state. The sad part is the Feds no longer have the budget to adequately manage the lands and our state is worse off than the Feds. I have seen this from (behind the scenes). Couple that with Delbert Hoseman's desire to help friends/campaign donors with trying to privatize public waters it would put a hurt on many MS Sportsman.

I've always asked why do they have to "manage" the lands, why can't it just be open to public hunting abiding by state laws? All the replant that the Feds own in the Delta.. What are they doing to "manage" that land?

It boils down to the liability...the feds don't want anybody on it unless they aren't "responsible" for it and the State will only take responsibility if the feds pony up the money, which they don't have anymore. Meanwhile the land sites idle with No Trespassing signs while the adjacent land owners get to hunt it.
All paid for by yours and mine tax dollars.
Look up the following CFR and read how it should be. (This only pertains to the USACE lands)

So with that being the Regulations, that means that land on the Bolivar/Coahoma county line by BoBo Brake must have been declared No Use by the District Commander, along with a whole bunch more land. But the questions is why would the Commander do that....somebody whispered in his ear that he oughta do it.

Look at all the land along the Tenn-Tom out of Starkville, that is all USACE (MOBILE District) land and you can buy a cheap little permit from the Corps and hunt away..No Management or anything, just state law.

Seems to me the law says it's ours to hunt unless someone says we can't, so why would they say we can't?

its strictly political. just another way for money to change hands...... usually in vast amounts.
