Walk behind brush cutters?

Anyone ever used one? Pretty effective?
I haven't been to our farm since we planted our sunflowers. Much to my surprise sicklepod/seasban/ coffee beans have decided to rear their head. Got about 4 acres worth of neck high sunflowers competing with neck high coffee bean. If caught sooner I guess a plow would've worked but it is what it is.
With a 38" row, a 30 brush cutter should cut them back. Thinking of going to the nearby rental place and giving it a go. Figured I'd see if anyone used one and how'd it do.
My options are really limited and the amount of acres with a weedeater just doesn't sound fun the least.
