Just moved into a new house. The yard has not been obviously not had much weed control done. Any point in starting to work it now or just wait until next season.

Now into fall is a great time to work on it. If u need to seed its better to do now (fall) than spring.

Get a cool day and hit it with some herbicide.

Never to early to clean it up.

I use Simazine (October I think) as my fall pre-emerge on Bermuda. Then Prowl (Ag name) before Spring.
Maybe you can check your PH now & put out lime now.

How about herbicides on some bermuda that was seeded this summer??

I have read MSMA is not recommended on very young turf. But in my experience bermuda can take it. Just don't mix it heavy with a good surfactant on young turf.

To the OP, it's never to late, I'd hit it with 24D and MSMA and a good surfactant. I use crop oil and it makes MSMA hot so I cut back on the mix some. It's like glue.

The pre-emerge in the fall is super also for the cool season stuff as mentioned above!
Weeds are a constant battle, I keep two 2 1/2 gallon sprayers mixed and ready to go.
One for round up type stuff and the other for weeds in my turf.

How big is yalls yards. I got 2.5 acres to mow. Grass grows and I cut it.

I've got a small yard, maybe 1/2 acre. Bought it 3 years ago and seem to have less and less Bermuda each year. Started trying to get it back this year but it's a losing battle so far. Gotta get her back in shape in the next year or two before we get ready to sell.

JIm Ive got 115 pallets of Bermuda sodded in May 2016. This year I seemed to have been taken over with crabgrass and Johnson grass. i did not pre-emerge this year and its coming back to bite me in the booty. I plan on going the 24D route soon and the hit it with Target (msma). I will pre-emerge like Stacy in October and then again in February to atleast give me a fighting chance to get ahead of the crabgrass. Its a constant battle due to others around me having the same problem.

My old house I had right at an acre and it had at least 3 different kinds of grass. I did just enough to keep the dollar weed and clover from taking over. Now I have a smaller manageable yard with one type of grass I figure I will make it look halfway decent. Not going for yard of the month, just a good soft turf for the girls to play on.

Actually I learned everything I know from a guy on this site. Bought a house years ago that the weeds had taken over so I started asking him for advice until I learned enough to do it myself.
He asked me early on if my goal was "yard of the month" or something less. My response was basically The same as the OP. Didn't set out to get YOTM, but once I started seeing the results, it became a little addictive & yard of the month was the end result. Like Cal said, it's harrrd work!

Any prcker head can grow a pretty stand of Bermuda. I tell folks all the time how hard a time I have killing it in my food plots.

^ha...even a rose is considered a weed in the wrong setting.

we used to run a chisel plow 6 ways over bermuda patches in cotton fields in the off season and then burn it once dried and still had it just as bad in the following spring

That's because that chisel plow was scattering the roots around, and spreading the patch. I've got a spot in my pasture that was trying to wash really bad a few years ago. I pulled a disk across it light last year and put out a couple pounds of seed, then started watering and fertilizing it when i could, and it is just about solid stand now. And that is with 15 head of cattle clipping the top off of it every time it get an inch or two tall. If could get the damn bull to stop stomping and scratching in it i would be in good shape.
