65 days - They have come back

I've always wondered how smart waterfowl are. They seem smart when I'm trying to hunt them but do they really have a memory?
I like many am cursed with local Canada geese. For some reason they love my yard more than my neighbors. It's like the goose chic filet. I also have a really fast well bred dog. It's in his DNA to hate anything that flys, quacks and swims. To these canada geese' credit, they have been smart enough to figure out where the underground dog fence is so the dog chases them and they waddle to the other side and he pulls up. Well one of them didn't waddle fast enough 8 days ago and my dog got him. I couldn't get mad at the dog, that's what he is bred to do. But the goose tried to fight him and the dog did what dogs do in front of all his goose brothers and sisters. Now here is where it gets interesting, there has not been a goose in my yard for 8 days. They don't even come close to it. Prior to this they were so bold you literally would have to blow the horn of your car to get them to move out of the street. I am going to try and keep up with how long it takes them to come back in the yard. It'll be interesting to see if they forget. Hopefully they don't but if they don't it'll provide an idea how long they remember some of the tricks we as hunters try and pull on them during the season.
Geese still haven't come back. They don't even come near my yard now.

I thought you were going to say it has been 8 days since anyone posted on the site.
Hope your geese problem is solved. At least you have had an 8 day reprieve.

Golf club..... I mean, yeah keep us updated on the results. Interesting for sure. Club the eggs, they leave. Highly illegal. but works.

Day 13. Not a goose in the yard. Those suckers have a much better memory than I imagined. My neighbor even feeds some of those Asian geese that showed up from somewhere a few years ago and they are steering clear. I gues word got out.

and most people that say "no don't kill them, they're majestic!" have never had them as a nuisance around their house, dock, or pond.

Donia, I live in Clinton and there are no less than a couple hundred of them nasty critters running around. There are libitards all on the Clinton FB pages that get bent out of shape when one gets run over (which makes me smile). Both my kids play sports and if you walk around our soccer/football and baseball fields there is goose $#!+ all out there. That is just what I want my kid to fall down on and walk around. The feds need to change the 30 year outdated laws so we can take these suckers out. I use to ride bikes with a group out of Ridgeland. After the ride we would run around a running path around a lake. The whole path was covered in $#!+ and stank.

Do y’all remember the guy that got tatted out by his neighbor for grilling some gooslings?
Loved his quote as he left the courthouse!
"I ran afoul of the law and laid a huge egg," Gunn said as he left the courthouse on Wednesday. "I have received a gaggle of problems as a result, and I am just glad this wild goose chase is behind us now."

Oh It’s not my problem, that’s the hotel in Madison by the Home Depot.
I knew this was being discussed here and when I saw the condition of that yard I just could not resist taking a photo. There are dead patches of grass that whole yard down there, not just in the one frame of the photo.
Had to throw my shoes away also.
Haha
