Has anyone had any run in's with any gators on the mississippi or the ox-bow lakes? If so, what was the outcome?

alligators can NOT feed in water that is below 70 degrees...... their metabolism cannot digest food at that temp...if you were to force feed an alligator, the food would rott in his stomach and kill him.. they will still move from place to place but there should be no worries of your dog getting et' once the temp drops on down... momma is not in protect mode of her youngins and she won't be hungry....

this will help ya

Two guys at Matthews Brake lost their dogs to a big ol gator Sunday morning. The gator floated into the decoys on a chunk of ice and got the dog and the greenhead he was retrieving. Floated to next hole and ate labradoodle that belonged to a South Carolina hunter. The labradoodle was retieving a coot. The gator spit the labradoodle out.

All BS aside....yesterday Chuckles12, Dukbum and myself were hunting some open water and shot a 2 ft cotton mouth that floated up next to the boat right after his dog climbed back in the boat from making a retrieve (Chuckles will post pictures soon). We saw 5 snakes total yesterday and I brought home 4.5 ft and 1ft water snakes to show the boys...under the heat lamp they are very much alive. Saw another snake through a sheet of ice, when I slide the ice over to pick it up that sucker went back under! Day before yesterday, the entire property was 1/2 inch ice (and be danmed if we didn't shoot a bluewing that hit the ice), yesterday it was about 50% covered in sheet ice. Snakes everywhere. Go figure.
