Skid Blinds in Rice

Hey guys

I have a small problem. Our pits have floated up in our rice fields and the water won't let up to fix them, plus it is really too late. We have a skid blind in one of our bean fields with fast grass on it. This hole isn't producing and we thought about moving the skid right in the middle of the rice field. There is no grass around the field to hide in and we have been watching all of the ducks land in the middle for two weeks. My question is has anyone ever stuck a blind out in the middle of a rice field and had any luck. I know it will stick out like a sore thumb but we don't have much of a choice. Please give me your feedback and results.

TRY IT, YOU NEVER KNOW.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY NEED TO GO THE "MUMMY BLIND " ROUTE

PENDING ON HOW DEEP THE WATER IS OUT THERE,
YOU CAN STACK UP SEVERAL BAILS OF WHEAT STRAW
AND MAKE A BOX TYPE BLIND. I HAVE SEEN THIS
DONE AND IT CAN BE GREAT. THE BAILS ARE SIMPLY THE SAME COLOR AS THE RICE STUBBLE.
PLUS THE BAILS OF STRAW DONT COST MUCH.

by chance
I have seen it work. A blind big enough to hide the four wheeler in and in the middle of 150 acres of nothing but water. 150 to 200 decoys helped the setup too. Try it and good luck.

Drill a hole in the bottom of the blind sink it back down and hunt in your waders. Or buy some anchors at Home Depot (the 3-4' long ones, about $10.00 a piece, get 4)anchor it down once it's flooded. Bilge pump it out and put in a boat or rubber plumber's plug. Sound crazy? Come to AR and see a couple of ours it works.

hey no angel's right, without stubble or somekind of cover it will stick out. I have seen people drill a hole in the bottom and sink the pit back. It will not hurt anything and you can buy an automatic bilge pump with float for about 60.00. I would definetly try to put the pits back in what ever the cost might be. Good luck!

I have my own guide service where i hunt only open rice and bean fields. all i use is skid blinds. some days are better than others but all in all it will work. the key to using a skid blind is to put it in the spot the ducks want to land. you will have people tell you it will not work but it will. if you have your doubts you can come hunt with me and i will show you that it works. and that goes for anyone else.
