New to the forum....report from KY

Postby GooseHead » Fri Jan 14, 2005 9:57 am

Hello Guys....First time posting on the forum.

It's getting cold up here in KY...supposed to be in the teens over the next 3 nights. Even with those temps it may take a few days for all of our back water to freeze. We've had alot of warm rain and the Ohio is 5 feet over flood stage, but it has crested and is starting to drop. The backwater has some serious current in it and that will help to keep water open.

I'm hearing reports of new birds in southern IN and western KY, near the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi.

I hope you guys picked up some new birds with the front. I think you will see a steady migration over the next few days as backwaters along the Ohio and Mississippi lock up.

I'm coming down to the Marks area next week to hunt with a friend on his lease. We allways have a good trip, ducks or no ducks....looking forward to enjoying the hospitality that you all are known for.

Not much to tell this year...ducks have been scattered and very wary. We have been doing pretty good on the Canada geese though...killed 5 limits so far this year.

Bring some of those honkers with ya when ya come. I get tired of seeing and hearing those white geese. Story is the same here, ducks are really spread out due to overabundance of water. Good luck on that trip!
