O/U Beretta???

I am going to get a new O/U shotgun and have narrowed it down to a Beretta. Does anyone have one of these guns or know anything about them? If so, which one do you prefer and why?

686 White Onyx
687 Silver Pigeon V
Ultralight

I have a friend who has the Ultralight and he says that he loves the gun but, due to its weight, it can kick like a mule after shooting it for a while. I will be mainly shooting quail, dove, and skeet with mine. Wife has said I can spend up to $1,400 on it.

What he said.
A good buddy got one 2 years ago and loves it.
It shoots 3.5s and is heavy enough to take the recoil from such a shell.
And thats the only bad theing about it, it is kinda heavy.

i also have a 686 great gun! if you have problems wif it kicken ya i just got a few of my barrels ported and the forcing cone done on them and makes a hell of a difference  also put a limb saver pad on them and your in business :) the main thing about getting it ported is you are able to get back on target better after each shot (keeps the muzzel jump down to nutten) and also helps in the kicken when shooten hot loads. alot of people think that i dont shoot nutten but light dove loads and a few skeet loads but when you shoot a couple of hundred rounds in a day on the trap range or even shoot a case of shells on the dove field it makes a difference in the long run (as far as your shoulder  ) good luk my 2-cents :)

I have a 686 Sporting model and would not trade it for .....ANYTHING?

I did have the forcing cones lenthened but couldn't tell much difference in the performance... either end.

686! 8)

If'n I was gettin' a Beretta, I'd also get the 686. But I'm too big a fan of my Browning and too poor to have more than one "non-duck hunting"shotgun.

m-m-m,

I have a 686 Onyx and love it. Since we're both in Stark-Vegas, if you want to eyeball it some time shoot me a PM. I do not know what the going price is. Mine is several years old and was bought up in Virginia.

I've been shooting my 686 onyx for three years. Absolutely love it. Shoot clays, doves, ducks with it. It is heavy enough that it won't absolutely stomp a mudhole in your shoulder with 3 1/2's, but I would't want to shoot all day with them. I have shot as many as 250 rounds in one day and have little shoulder soreness...if you're used to shooting. I like the matte finish and low shine finish on the wood...by the way, beautiful wood! The workmanship and fit on these guns is so far beyond most of the other o/u's in the price range. Can't beat the 686 onyx for an all-around shotgun...not out of place on a high-class clays course and don't mind getting down in the gumbo with it.

I would look at the 686. All Beretta actions/triggers are pretty much the same until you hit $5K. You are paying for different wood and engraving patterns, pretty much. I still like the old-style black Onyx 686.

I'm lookin to get one too. I like the 686 Onyx too b/c you can use it as a back up duck gun if your primary gun goes out. I would rarely use it for duck hunting though, I don't baby those guns. If I got an O/U i would want the wood to be glossy with blued barrels and such. I want mine to be purdy.

I HAVE A 686 I only dove hunt and shoot clays with. I love it. My favorite o/u is my 20 ga browning citori. That is a bird killin machine. I bought it for my wife (10 year aniversary). She only dove hunts.

MSUmalardman I bought mine through a police supply for a steal. Law enforcement uses beretta handguns
