I would like to breed my Golden with another registered golden. Can any of you point me in the right direction as far as websites or magazine that might have contacts. Dog is registered and hunts his ass off, but does not compete.
Thanks bob

You just want to breed? Are you out to breed to produce good dogs?
Have you had the eyes cerfed - hips OFA - Elbows.
There are lots of Goldens out there - check out Retriever field trial news for a stud -

Sounds like he's looking for the dog a girlfriend, not a stud.... but then again, this is a hippy-duck-dog we're talking about!

which one is it?
A good golden with eye and hip certifications are hard to come by! I've recently spoken for a pup that I'm waiting to get in March! If you've got a golden from a hunting background and he's over 2, I'd go ahead and get his hips x-rayed and send them to OFA or PennHIP. It'd be worth the money to see if they're good. If he gets his hips certified, he's automatically "worth" more as far as breeding potential. There's a lot of good golden bitches out there, but no one with health certifications and hunt test titles is going to breed their bitch to someone who doesn't have any certification. What I'm saying is, you'd get yourself a lot "better" puppy if you went ahead and got his hips and eyes certified, then you'd have a better search for a female. Backyard goldens that make good hunting companions are few and far between. I did months and months of research before deciding on my dog and the "newspaper" goldens go for around $200 and the ones with health clearances and impressive parents go for $700-$1500. They're all great animals. I grew up with the "newspaper dogs" and never really had any of these certifications, but they're worth the time and money in the sense that you get a healthy pup and also more money for your pups, as well as more "desireable" mates. It's kind of like the supermodel who graduated from Harvard isn't going to make babies with a hobo. He may be a great guy and plenty smart and decent, but that just ain't going to happen. You clean up your hobo, give him a law degree, etc. and suddenly, she's fair game.
Good luck! Glad to see another lover of the swampcollies! In my opinion, they're more personable than labs! Congratulations on your hunting buddy!
Anyone on here run hunt tests with their goldens? I'm hoping to run mine "started" this fall and let him hunt some ducks with me. Of course, I've still got a long way to go! He's only 3 weeks right now!

Judge is a 2 year old male. I was told to wait 24 months to have him certified. Thanks for the leads. Any Idea where your dad got his three dogs.
