STOLEN!!!!! LANYARD!!!!

Postby duckamateur » Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:17 pm

I go to the local Country store and leave my truck unlocked! I know, what a Dumb booty!!! I come back and the only thing I notice wrong is the Lanyard swinging from my mirror ain't there! I am thinking that since I have been working my dog a lot the past couple of weeks with his new blind, that I left it in the house with everything else! I am WRONG! I have not found it yet!!!! The lanyard is no problem, my wife made it for me, the calls can be replaced, the whistle can also be replaced, the thing that bothers me is the 6 bands that were on the lanyard!!!! These bands came from when my father started me out Duck hunting(late 70's)! Just a Rant!! Ya'll be sure to keep your DANG truck locked especially when your lanyards are hanging from the rear-view mirror. I still have the certificates for these bands and If I can find out who has the bands then maybe I will try to get them back! You know they didn't even take the .45 in the door. Must have been STUPID!!!!!!!! I would have rather them take the gun than my bands!!!! Oh Yeah! The lanyard is grey and black with 2 flextone calls and 1 Primos Phat lady call with 6 really old bands. The kind that only says to write them. The wife is making me a new lanyard as I type this. I will be in the Mean Mallard tomorrow to get a new whistle. Why would someone take a lanyard instead of things of more value? There were other things that were worth more $ that I know they saw!!!! Sorry about RANTING TO YA'LL! That just PI$$ES me off though! The only Good thing is I still have my Miner band locked up in the Gun Safe! 8) Ya'll think that is what they were after?

David, sorry to hear that. I've got the flextone calls if you need them. This may sound stupid but I'd keep an eye on the bands on ebay. If you remember the numbers you might find them, just a thought.

Thanks Greenhead22! I do not have to remember the ##'s I have the certificates with the numbers! I will definately be keepin an eye on e-bay! The bands are the only reason I am really pi$$ed about this!!!!!!!! They could have taken the .45 and made a lot more $$$$ it's a race gun I have used in competetion, I stopped competing and started using my pistols for protection! Sure wish I would have had my son with me earlier today! He would have give anyone hell who tried to snatch something out of my truck!

I was on a hunt with boss this year, and we were talking about bands collected over the years. He's got ten or so now, but he hunted a lot as a kid and growing up through college had the foturne of filling his lanyard completely around. When he was moving out of college after graduation he had them hanging on the wall in his room. A couple of buddys were helping him pack. The lanyard never made it in a box.

It's sad really cause some moron is replacing the fake marketing bands with stolen bands so they can brag in the blind about something they didn't do.

Band envy, it's almost as bas as truck envy.

'Dukamateur'....sorry to hear about that. That bites.

If the person who took your lanyard had any appreciation for 'bands' and what it takes for the average guy to collect a few in his lifetime, he woulda left them alone.

'Left the gun and took the bands, huh?.......'harder to assign a 'value' to the bands. :? Maybe they'll turn-up. And maybe because you've shared this with us, it'll prevent someone else from going through the same experience.

I had the same thing happen to me back in '98 at an apartment I was living in at the time. I left my window down while I ran back up to my apartment to get something. I came back 5 minutes later and my lanyard was gone. It was laying on the dashboard on the drivers side. It had 3 bands, 1 fairly expensive call, a Greg Ackerman silver devil ~$120), a dog whistle and a Haydel's DR-85. Now I only carry 2 calls (both $15 Haydels) along with a dog whislte and a 6-in-1 on my .99 cent rope lanyard. I keep all my bands (all 1 of them collected in the last 6 years  ) at the house. This way, if it gets stolen or lost I'm out all of $40. No, it doesn't look as cool and I don't have my bands lined around my neck, but it gets the job done and I don't have to worry about some jackass snatching my calls from my bag or truck.
