DOGS vs. REBELS

Getting to be do or die time in the west standings. Not sure yet if that rainout of the Bulldogs-TN is going to come back and haunt them or help. Both teams have a chance to solidify themselves in the upper tier of the division this weekend. With the east having some good records, the SEC tournament is fast approaching. Maybe the Bullies will not look at to many good pitches without swinging this weekend. I have never seen so many instances of taking good pitches. Ole Miss could be a great team if they were a little deeper in the bullpen. Mr. Head seems to be doing it all. Suprised he did not pitch them out of another jam Sunday. Glad to see Gant do some good work after Johnson got hammered Friday. I know Johnson has had some good outings, but I am nervous everytime he takes the mound. I like Gant and think when he is capable of pitching like he did when first coming to MSU, he may be the best they have. Not sure about his status but hopes he continues to gain innings pitched over the rest of the season. Of course, we can count on DSU if the big three can not get it done. I have faith the Bullies can do it though, just like I have faith the Rebs will choke.

Reb yelp,..... Are you familiar with the term, "Anti-Dentite" !
Picture Cosmo Kramer !
Just had to throw that one in there !
As for the Series in Oxford,........
In the past, I have enjoyed the Rebs "late season swoons", it has helped the Dawgs out from time to time,...... this year seems to be different,.... I (for the first time ever), think UMissery, has the better ballclub. Or maybe I should say more complete ballclub !
I see it as being a game (series) of timely pitching, rather than hitting !
If State can get some pitching going, as they did early in the SEC schedule,... we will, or should do OK. If not,.... It's gonna be a long, miserable weekend.

jamie gant's case is a strange one... his first year at state he did a wondeful job coming out of the bullpen.. so good in fact that his performance earned him the title of friday night starter his second year....
thats where his prolems started.. he never regained his form and he was eventually pulled from his gig as friday night starter...
glad to see him have a good outing the other day.. i'm sure he was happy.
states got a tuff road these next few weeks.. ole miss, bama, florida and lsu...
they way i got it figured the best we can hope for in these next 4 series is to finish 6 & 6.. someone could again get left out of the sec tourney and still make the ncaa's

It doesn't really matter. Everyone knows that Southern is the state's baseball school.

Well, I have to stick up for my school, even if it makes me look stupid. But, we did beat Ole Miss, and only lost to State by one (on an unearned run). And while Tulane beat the crap out of us overall, we took one from them. So, I am sticking to my guns. (Regardless of how big of an idiot it makes me look like.)

If the golden buzzards are the state's baseball school then tell me the last time they were in the CWS.........much less win a game in a regional.

UM's beat them this year, MSU has also. Heck DSU is even higher on the list than USM.
