Now taking bets for this weekend....
I like Bellamy Road at 5-2. Big Georges Horsey seems to be the favorite, but since the Yankees are doing so bad this season, maybe its not such a good pick afterall.

The sweeping process begins.........
Berkery Sparks State To 7-3 Win Over No. 12 Alabama
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Junior catcher Thomas Berkery went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs Friday night to lead Mississippi State (29-15, 10-11 SEC) to a series-opening 7-3 win over No. 12 Alabama (33-15, 13-9 SEC) at Dudy Noble Field. The win snapped a four-game losing skid by the Bulldogs, who climbed to seventh place in the league's overall standings.
Berkery doubled in two runs in the second and plated two more on a sixth-inning home run that gave MSU its final margin of victory.
The game also marked the return to action of junior center fielder Joseph Hunter, who entered the game as a defensive replacement in the fourth inning. Hunter, the team's hitting leader, missed the past 11 games after fracturing a thumb when struck by a pitch against Georgia on April 16. Hunter went 0-for-3 at the plate in his first game back.
The third start against Alabama was a charm for Bulldog senior pitcher Alan Johnson (3-5), who overcame first inning difficulties and ended up working seven strong innings. Johnson, from pleasant Grove, Ala., had a no-decision and a loss in his two previous meetings with Alabama. Johnson allowed three runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
"Alan didn't have his good stuff early tonight, but he battled through it to give us seven good innings," said Bulldog skipper Ron Polk. "Getting to T.J. Large for three runs in the first was huge. So were Berkery's double and home run."
The game included five double plays, three by Alabama.
Alabama broke on top in the first inning when Allen Rice reached on an infield single and Gabe Scott followed with his 11th home run of the season, a one-out blast inside the right field foul pole.
State answered promptly with three runs, one on Brad Jones' two-strike single to right-center field and two more on a double into the left field corner by Ed Easley.
The Bulldogs stretched the lead to 5-2 an inning later. UA starter T.J. Large retired the first batter he faced in the second but plunked Jeff Butts and Jeffrey Rea before Berkery followed with a two-run double to right-center. Lefty Brent Carter then followed Large to the hill, ending the inning with a double play and working around problems in the fourth and fifth innings with double plays.
In the fourth Zac Welch singled up the middle and later came home on an errant pick-off throw at second base, trimming the MSU lead to 5-3.
Carter held State scoreless until the sixth when with two outs Rea singled to shallow left and Berkery uncorked his team-leading sixth home run of the year just inside the left field foul pole. Carter was charged with two runs on eight hits over 6-2/3 innings.
Jeffrey Rea scored three runs on a 3-for-4 night at the plate while Brad Jones and Ed Easley had two hits each to highlight MSU's 12-hit attack.
Saunders Ramsey followed Johnson to the hill in the eighth, shutting out the Tide over the final two frames.
The teams continue their three-game series Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Dudy Noble Field.

JEFFREY REA'S SINGLE LIFTS STATE TO SERIES-CLINCHING 5-3 WIN OVER ALABAMA
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Jeffrey Rea's two-out single scored two runs in the eighth inning Sunday afternoon lifting Mississippi State (30-16, 11-12 SEC) to a series-clinching 5-3 win over No. 12 Alabama (34-16, 14-10 SEC). MSU won the series opener 7-3 Friday and Alabama claimed Saturday's contest 5-3. The win, coupled with Sunday's other Southeastern Conference results, vaulted Mississippi State back into fourth place in SEC's the rugged Western Division and back to seventh place in the league's overall standings. It was the fifth series win in eight weekends of league play and State's 13th home series win over Alabama in the last 15. MSU has three-game SEC sets remaining at Florida this weekend and at Dudy Noble Field against LSU May 20-22, the final weekend of league play.
"What a great two-out hit by Jeffrey Rea and what a great pitching performance by Mike Valentine," said coach Ron Polk. "We've been playing from behind a lot lately, so it was good to come back and get the win with the timely hit, which which just couldn't get in Saturday's game."
It was the third game-winning RBI for Rea and a career-longest 4-2/3 innings pitching performance by Valentine.
For the third straight day Alabama jumped out to an early lead. Back-to-back doubles off MSU starter Jon Crosby by Morrow Thomley and Zac Welch to open the second plated one run. A second run came home when Cale Iorg's infield grounder was misplayed by shortstop Bunky Kateon.
State answered quickly, scoring three times in the second inning with four hits. Joseph McCaskill opened the frame with a sharply hit single up the middle off UA starter Brandon Belcher. Brad Corley followed with a double and Joseph Hunter drove McCaskill home with a sacrifice fly to center field. A walk and a pop-up later, Jeffrey Rea and Ed Easley delivered back-to-back RBI singles that moved the Bulldogs back on top 3-2.
Thomley opened the fourth with a double and raced home on a two-bagger by catcher Kody Valverde. it was the fifth of seven doubles among Alabama's nine hits.
Both teams changed pitchers in the fifth inning. Alabama turned to David Robertson, who earned the save in Saturday night's 5-3 win. Robertson left Bulldog base-runners stranded in scoring position in the fifth and sixth and set the Bulldogs down in order in the seventh. But in the eighth, after ending Brad Corley's 3-for-3 day with a strikeout, Robertson gave up a single to Joseph Hunter and walked Brian LaNinfa. Pinch-hitter Jeff Butts then advanced the base-runners with a groundout to second, and Rea smoked an 0-1 offering from Davidson up the middle of the infield, scoring Hunter and LaNinfa.
Mike Valentine (4-0), who replaced Jon Crosby in the fifth, got out of a two-on, one-out jam in the inning, faced three batters in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, and worked around a lead-off walk and two-out double by Alabama in the ninth. The sophomore right-hander from Midlothian, Va., struck out four and allowed two hits during a career-longest 4-2/3 innings relief stint to earn the win.
Brad Corley, moved to the six-hole in the MSU batting order, led all hitters with a 3-for-4 afternoon that included a team-leading 16th double of the year. Rea went 2-for-2 and matched a season-best with a three-RBI showing.
Mississippi State continues a rugged five-games-in-five-days run Monday in Jackson, Miss., when State tangles with Birmingham-Southern (30-16) in a rescheduled Entergy baseball Series game at Smith-Wills Stadium. the Bulldogs return to Dudy Noble Field to entertain Mississippi Valley State Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and then journey to Gainesville, Fla., for a three-game series against the Florida Gators.

Excuse me???
Chicken chit???
After going back and looking through this thread, it appears Alabama weren't the only losers this weekend. I'd say that anyone who spent their weekend posting on an internet message board regarding the whereabouts of myself, really need to take a long look in the mirror. The expression "get a life" really comes into play.
No bigdumber, I'm not runnng from anything. Never have...never will. Since you seem to have so much time to track my comings and goings of this site, why dont you go back through and see if it really was 3 weeks after Bama lost in the first round. Your memory seems to be as empty as M$Us trophy case.
Just trying to figure out which is more funny. The fact I could give 2 squats about baseball, or the fact you were actually thinking of me on your saturday.
Talk is cheap, but I'd have to say to you are coming across as quite the numbnut.
P.S. This thread was originally about the race this past weekend. But once again, your envy of Bama, your insecurities of your own program, and your frustration of the fact I come to your state and shoot your ducks seem to always shift the direction of my posts. Nice work...I win again!
