STARKVILLE — Four of the six members of Mississippi State's 2005 basketball recruiting class are currently eligible and enrolled in summer school, coach Rick Stansbury said recently.
Twin guards Reginald and Richard Delk, guard Bernard Rimmer and versatile swingman Jamont Gordon, the most highly touted of the four, have all been cleared to play this season, according to Stansbury.
Stansbury expects Vernon Goodridge, considered by some as one of the nation's best centers, to be cleared soon.

"It's just a formality," Stansbury said. "He's got all his stuff in and is getting cleared by the (NCAA) clearinghouse. He completed everything, he just couldn't get it all done in time for summer school."
That leaves Murrah guard Jeremy Wise as the only question.
"It's kind of wait and see," Stansbury said.
Hoops schedule update: The 2005-06 Mississippi State non-conference basketball schedule is not yet final, but Stansbury said it's close.
"We're one game away," he said.
Earlier this week, Stansbury (who didn't have the schedule in front of him) said the Bulldogs will play in the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic a week or so before Christmas (he recalled it was Dec. 17-21). There will be a game in Jackson again this season. Stansbury thought his team would play Jacksonville State again, on Dec. 15.
Other opponents include: Santa Clara, UNC Charlotte (away), UT-Chattanooga (at home), and Arkansas State. Stansbury had previously said that, given the youth and inexperience of his team, the schedule won't be as taxing as that of last season, which included a trip to New York for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic and a trip to California for the Wooden Classic.

Jerious Norwood rushed for 1,050 yards and scored seven touchdowns as a junior for Mississippi State, a showing that makes him a preseason All-SEC pick.
MSU football: Many of the Mississippi State football players are participating in the off-season program, which includes the usual mix of weight training and running. But that's not all.
"We've got karate class once a week," said quarterback Omarr Conner, who raved about the weekly sessions.
It's just another way to get in shape for the season.
"It helps a lot with our flexibility," running back Jerious Norwood said. "And, it helps prevent injuries."
All-SEC honors: Of the seven Bulldogs named to the coaches' All-SEC teams, only Norwood was selected on the first team.
"That was pretty cool," he said. "I was glad to be part of that. But I just got to keep working hard and stay focused."
