Black leaders just held a press conference where their message was that because the homeless and trapped are poor and black, that is the reason for the slow response.

This chit is making me sick.....

Thats ironic considering most of the NO city elected officials and leaders are black or other minorities.

The Gov.? a white woman completely overwhelmed by the situation from the outset and ineffectual.

The Mayor? a black man completely overwhelmed by the situation from the outset and ineffectual.

The senators from the state? have the perpetual look of "oh my God" , further promoting the feeling of panic.

The biggest thing these folks should have been doing from the outset was laying the groundwork for coordination of rescue and relief efforts from a variety of sources. At the same time, a martial law type of police presence to provide security and prevent looting and criminal activity should have been implemented. Instead, they focused on the touchy feely things, with tv appearances displaying weakness and uncertainty which did not project confidence from the masses, and other leaders of the relief agencies (FEMA, Coast Guard, military, Police, NAt'l Guard, etc.) have had to make the hard decisions and try to salvage coordination of the rescue and relief efforts ---later than they should have been made by the city leaders. And what we have here is a cluster f%%$ of gargantuan proportions. Very tagic and unfortunate.

Political correctness in leadership, at a time such as this, is not worth two squirts of piss.

The radio station 103.5 here in memphis yesterday had callers saying that the reason its taking so long for the rescuers to get to the blacks was because they were rescuing and helping all the white ppl first, said they gave the white ppl more warning to get out, before the storm, said the news needed to show all the white ppl that were looting in NO instead of showing mostly blacks.

Po Monkey is dead on. Compare the mayors of NO and NYC, and also the governors of LA and NY after 9/11.

Where's the Leadership? Martial Law should have been imposed BEFORE the storm hit.

(Although I will admit Giullianni probably had more to work with 3 days after 9/11 than Nagin now has, sitting in the "slop jar" that New Orleans has now become.)

I think they rescued the people that were not shooting at them. I heard they had 1,500 boats like we all have and were not let in because of the shooting. Just saw a bunch of rescuers with duck boats and go devils going in. Some of these black leaders have gone as far as to say that the city was designed so that when the levees do break, it will break and flood the poor people first. What the h*$$ does that mean? The whole place is a pool waiting to be filled. These idiots are setting buildings on fire out of frustration and stupidity. There may be people in those buildings, like their family members they are looking for. One thing that hasn't been mentioned too much is the fact that some of these people were screened before they let them into the Superdome. They tried to not let in the thugs and crackheads to protect the people once they were in.

I just sent and email too fox new complaining about the way their reporters were handling the NO fiasco. I wished some of you fellas would also send in your comment to them. They ( the reporters) were constantly complaing about where all the help was where were all the help was. They seemed too me were trying to justify the reasons the ppl trying to help were gettng shot at ,instead of tellin them too quit shooting if they expected anyone too come in there too help them. I guess they though that within 30 minutes of the end of katrina they expected there too be alonnggggggg line of convoys waiting too get in there too help them. I also notice that on tuesday that several of them were saying on the news the storm came in too quick for them to have time too leave    They were only given a 3 day notice too evacuate    . On CNN yesterday morning the had a black woman raising all kinds of H*^% because she wasnt gettin anything for herself. Of course whe was sitting in the back of a pickup full of negros, finally she started flipping off the camera crew and shouting F%$# Regan ,F(&*^ Regan, yeah she was really up on what was going on    . My wife asked me what reagan had too do with all this and I told her nothing the she was just raising he^% on camera too show her AXX and had a real good sense of what was going on   . I'm waiting too see how many lawsuits will be filed in the next year.

total leadership failure in n.o.,the people of that city elected those people and their leaders failed them when they needed them the most.i hope they remember that during the next election.
