The season is 1/3 of the way through. Some thoughts...

This should rile some folks up.

Its still a little early to determine how this SEC season will play out. Especially with a big game tonight. I wouldn't be suprised to see TN pull it out. Still not sold on Les Miles.

Around the league...

Auburn- I think their schedule is playing in their favor. they may have lost the opener, but it was due to losing so many leaders. They still have an excellent chance to make a run for the SECCG.

Alabama- I am quietly and cautiously optimistic. This weekend is the biggest game on campus in quite some time. I'm hoping the playbook will be opened up this weekend. They were obviously looking ahead to this week when playing Arkansas.

LSU- The game tonight will tell us alot. They've obviously played one game under odd circumstances. I'm holding off on these guys until tomorrow.

Arkansas- their running game is really good. Their QB sucks. They will beat a team or two this year they werent supposed to. No bowl game though (again). BTW, Hoston Nutt gets a 100,000 bonus every year if he beats Alabama.

M$U- They definitely don't quit like they did 2-4 years ago. They will only get better. I just hope they dont do it the first weekend in November. Brutal schedule right now.

Ole Piss- Quickly becoming the laughing stock of the SEC. Wyoming? Come on?!?!? I thought these were Cutliffes players? Arent they supposed to be good? Or is it coaching? I say both. Welcome back to your rightful place, Rebs.

Florida- Obviously I'm pretty biased right now. They look good, but they are definitely beatable. Chris Leak is not an option style QB. Certainly some defensive coordinator can figure this out and put a stop to it. I'm hoping its Joe Kines.

TN- I don't think things are as bad in Crookville as people think. I'd love to see them fall flat on their face, but I still think its going to take some luck to get them into the SECCG.

Georgia- still haven't been tested. Their schedule plays in their favor too. Shockley isn't making the mistakes some had suggested (or hoped) he would.

South Carolina- If Aubrun beats them by double digits this weekend, ole SOS will be lucky to get to a bowl game. Coaching can only get you so far when you have mediocre players.

Vandy- I'm pulling for these guys. Bowl game is possible. There is alot of teams in the SEC who wish they had Cutler.

Kentucky- who cares.

Just curious, what do the Ole Miss fans think of THE BIG O after three games. I kind of wondering what he was smoking two months ago to make a statement like "we will be contending for the west and will go to a bowl THIS YEAR". Do yall think he really believed it or was he trying to blow smoke up everyone's skirt.

I think his players are the ones wearing the skirts.

"we will be contending for the west and will go to a bowl THIS YEAR".

wanna give some kind of reference on that ?? cause i've seen him speak several times and he's never said anything remotely close to it...... when asked point blank questions about his timetable for contending etc etc, he says "we'll be good when we get good," everytime i've heard him speak..... He realizes we don't have the talent to compete for the west, going to a bowl, seems like a stretch now, a big one; but it's not necessarily a coaching problem, yes he's made some rookie coaching mistakes but for hte most part hasnt' done a bad job. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken $hit.....

First of all, I am still 100% behind Coach O and I never expected us to be very good this season...granted I didn't expect this...but....whatever

Secondly, I never heard to that statement you just branded on O, but if so, did you expect him to say, "I have inheritted a team with no talent, we'll be lucky to win 3-4 games, we will suck this season, we will no compete for bowl eligibility this season. But hold on, we're coming!" Seriously, what you expected him to say???

I too think lots of our players still got too much Cuttcliffe in em....it's gonna take a few years for the entire program to make such a dramatic shift.....O and Cutt are night and day....

I am very dissappointed but still behind the staff 100%. I think Mazzone better show at least improvements by season's end or he might be in trouble....

Petey boy will give O lots more rope than Cutt got....b/c Boone hired Coach O, he didn't hire Cutt and he never wanted him there to begin with...regime change type thing....happens in every profession

msu.. i can for the first time in a while see progress... these last 4 years have been the worst in the 100 plus years that state has lined it up b/w the hashes... i can see msu going to a bowl game this year.. we could win against houston, kentuck, ark and um... that to me would be reason enuff the run down state street naked as a jaybird...

now for our sister school to our north um... bwaaaawaa...

you deserve many losing seasons in a row for the outlandish treatment of one david cuttcliff.... coach cutt was brought in to win games be competitive and be LOYAL to the rebs.. coach cutt did all of the above and it was the fans the administration and the school that turned their backs on him.....

good luck with "O", and i don't wanna hear a one of ya bellyaching about the situation..

David Cutcliffe was a college football coach. Getting fired is part of college football. Particularly, when you go from a ten win season to a four win season and THEN REFUSE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES. Cutt knew he had no talent in the wings, knew this season would suck, and prolly wanted Boone to fire his booty. You really think that the way Ole Miss is playing is the result of some sort of voodoo hex placed on the Rebs because of David Cutcliffe's departure?? Hard to have feast when the cupboard is left bare.

Besides, shouldn't yall be figuring out what you're gonna name your new athletic performance enhancing center now that Palmero is a cheater, a liar, and now a Jose Canseco wannabe?
