Croom Suspends Bulldog Pair Indefinitely
10/04/2005

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State head football coach Sylvester Croom announced Tuesday that redshirt freshman linebacker Fred Akines (Clarksdale, Miss.) and sophomore defensive back Demario Bobo (Courtland, Miss.) had been suspended from the team indefinitely.

Akines, a reserve who has seen most of his work on Bulldog special teams, had made one tackle on the 2005 season. Bobo started the first four games of the year before a minor knee injury limited him to a back-up role against LSU last Saturday. He was fifth on the team in tackles (22), and had two pass deflections and a fumble recovery.

The length of each suspension was not determined. No further comment will be made by MSU officials on the two suspensions.

was Demario a Qb in highschool? or was that a different Bobo

Any details why there were suspended, or did Croom need to rattle the rest of the team. Croom can't afford to start these cuts again or he will have to start looking for walk ons

That Demario was a QB at Moss Point, took over for Fant. We recruited him also, but he went to Georgia Tech.

Bobo was a CB at South Panola, didn't play much last saturday due to a knee injury. Aikens doesn't play much so that's not really a problem. Glanton took over for Bobo last Saturday at Safety and got burnt bad against LSU.

It's time for Pegues and/or Fitzhugh to move to safety, even though they aren't big enough for the position.

Rumor is that Chris McNeil's little brother Josh, whom we recruited but signed with UT......walked up in the lockeroom with his UT hat on and got dealt with by Bobo and Aikens.

But I don't believe that no more than anything else floating around about this deal.

I don't think that the Josh McNeil fight really happened. That seems a little far fetched to me. My guess would be that Bobo and Akins weren't going to class.

Croom said that these were seperate incidents. Bobo is out for at least the Fla game, and Aikens is no longer on the team.
