Fellas,

I have an opportunity to buy a NIB PSE Firestorm Lite for a little over $330. What are yall's thoughts on this bow.....good or bad....I want to hear all of them!!!

The one majoy concern I have is the double cam.....I know double cams can become off time of each other and cause some accuracy issues. Being that this is a new 2005 edition, I am wondering if they have fixed the problem or if it will always be a problem for double cam bows.

Double cams unless the cables are made of steel instead of fast flight material or any other material for that matter will need to be timed, then shot quite a bit, then re-timed...then shot a lot more and timed again. Generally after a couple of times of timing and re-tuning they will be set. If bow is allowed to get hot...say you leave it in car in summer-time they will stretch again. There are a lot of factors that play into timing a double cam bow, and keeping it that way. Single cam bows aren't quite as bad, but the idler cable will stretch and cause a few issues. Basically if you don't have an old steel cable bow you will have stretch issues regardless of what you do....for the first little while anyway.

Just went and looked at the bow. Seems like they have an awlful lot of reflex in the grip with a long (over 8") brace height. Looks like it would be a booger to shoot...but I'm not sure...short axle to axle bows are traditionally hard to keep a serving on. Even with a string loop the serving will still separate some. I saw once where a guy did a double serving. He put a thread type serving on first, then put a fast flight serving on over it. Just a thought to help with serving separation problems.

I haven't shot one with the hybrid cams (duals that you are talking about), but the single cam version was a pretty good little bow...especially at the prices you are talkin' about...the single cam a good bit of jump to it and a bit of shock, but strategically placed vibration reducers should take care of most of it....

the hybrid cams, are the same cams that AR uses on their bows which aren't a true 2 cam system (similar to the cam 1/2 that hoyt uses)...you shouldn't have a lot of timing problems out of them, at least not any more than a single cam...so if i shot the bow and shot it well i wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.... but, it goes without saying shoot it first if there's any way possible.... I didn't find it the most forgiving bow to shoot, but it wasn't the most critical either....

as for short a-to-a bows, they can be a problem with longer draw lengths.... but for the average person it shouldn't be to much of an issue (a D loop is highly recommended though)....

don't worry about it having the double cams, i have an old pse with double cams and have never have had to have them timed, it will shoot as good as i can shoot it, i can group 3 arrows touching together with it

What about the short axle-to-axle length??? Is 30'' too short????

axle length is all about personal preference, usually a longer axle length is more forgiving, but if you feel comfortable shooting a short axle then don't worry about it

you can shoot a bow with 20.5 in axle lenght!

I shot one of those Liberty bows 2 weeks ago . It 's a bad little MOFO. It would be great for turkey hunting. They have sold 6 of them here in Vburg at the new sports center on Pemberton Ave.I thought it would be real squirrelly but its not.

is 30" too short a-to-a? it's gonna depend on several factors, first thing to consider is draw length, long draw short a-to-a equals a lot of nock pinch.... the shorter your draw the shorter the bow and brace height you can get away with, generally speaking.... number one thing try to shoot it yourself before you buy it, you wouldn't buy a car without a test drive would you?
