Myself and a group from Jackson are going last week of Sept.. The outfitter we are using gave us a pretty good deal $750 for 5 days plus airfare. Had to sign up for 8 people. Hunting some indian reservation. One of the guides called and said we will hunt ducks, geese, partridge I think and to bring a rifle for deer and moose in the afternoon. I am pretty fired up myself.

Don't know any guides in Canada who will take a guy for moose for under 3000 and 750 for 5 days really seems out of place to me.

I would do a little more checking on the outfit if I were you.

Better safe than pissed off

I was lucky enough to get to go up there in 2000. We hunted with Prairie Sun Outfitters Guide service. If you want more info look them up in the places to go section in the DU magazine.

This was the Ultimate Waterfowling Expierence! We hunted the Dark Geese in the morning and hunted Ducks in the afternoon. The limits were 8 Geese and 8 Ducks per hunter per day. We limited out 4 out of 5 days and took 40+ Snows on the 5th day! I will go back there soon!!

If at all possible book the 5 day Hunt to allow yourself time in case of inclement weather. They have some new laws concerning guns that you better get info on before going. You can spend as much as you want but expect ot spend between 2 & 3 G's for a Quality hunt.

Shotgun- checked the outfitter and all is legit. When the guide called last week he didn't guarantee moose or deer (even if we would see any) what he said was bring a rifle and in the afternoons if you want to deer hunt and a moose comes out drop him. Big game is not the focus. But you can bet I am going to pack the big gun. Apparently, this deal we got was some sort of intro. deal sponsored by the indians. I figure I would pay that much for a couple fo days is AR so it's all gravy from here. Hell for that money if I shoot a few ducks I'll come out better than I did on my delta lease all of last year

The reason he told you to bring the big gun is because in Canada the natives can hunt without a license almost anywhere year round

Now, that being said if you were to pop a moose or other big game animal without a license and without a licensed guide you would be in the poop for sure.

We have one large reservation in Alberta that got into the bird guiding same as what you have found. None of them knew a damn thing about hunting so they soon got out of the bus.

Don't know which band you are using so I can't offer any comments.

Good luck
