I am in need of a FREE website that has aerial photos of areas. I know of Terraserver.com, but the place I am looking at...the picture there was taken in '96 and that doesn't do me any good. I need something that has pictures taken relatively recently.
Thanks,
DD

if anyone knows of any let me know too. Even if it is a pay site, if it is up to date. I have thought about getting someone to fly over and take pictures after the season. If we get a few people interested, maybe we could split the cost of the plane.

that earth.google.net or whatever it is...I downloaded it and it wouldn't get very clear if I zoomed it enough to make anything out. Does it just take a while to clear up? or is what I see what I get. Thanks for the responses so far.

right on! google earth shows pictures taken within 6 months(questionable). you can also mark specific points.
click roads, under the submenu layers to find where you are

The roads gravel road might not appear the first time you try but I think in the next few days the thing loads more specific roads to the areas which you have looked at.

The newest photos you'll find at the courthouse were flown in '99. The property lines are updated yearly but not the pics. The most recent photos I've been able to find are on the MARIS website. It takes a while to download even with DSL but it's worth it. The photos were taken in the summer so its hard to distinguish between timber types but for the most part they work well. I believe they were flown in '04. Here's the link:
http://www.maris.state.ms.us/
Click on the picture of the state, then scroll down on the next page to '2004 NAIP' and click on it. Then scroll down the page and click on 'central' for winston county. A new window opens and then select the 'winston.sid' file. You'll have to have the MrSid program installed on your machine to read the file. It'll take about 10 or 15 minutes to download but its worth it. Good luck...........

Not sure if Mississippi does this or not, but when I lived in Indiana and worked for a land surveyor we could go to the county and get aerial section maps. They were incredibly detailed and only about $5 or $6 apiece.
Not sure what you're looking for Dutch, but if they have them in MS you'll be able to find whatever you are looking for. Go to the county surveyor, they'll be able to tell you if they have them or not.
Let me know what you find out.

Don't hold your breath Dutch Dog they just now got a Wendy's let alone a website! We did go get some aerial photo's this summer from a place in town I can't remember what the building was called but they weren't very high quality aerial photo's and thay would only make a copy of it on a copy machine.
