I was wondering if any body knows of someone who I can get to train my 7 month old pup fairly reasonable. Maybe even cheap?

See the list of pro trainers on the top of the board.

I will tell you though that the real satisfaction in having the dog is training him yourself.

Also keep in mind that you get what you pay for. It is worth the money if you are going to have him trained to get it done right.

If somebody tells you they will train a dog for you for under 3 big head hundreds a month, I would be skeptical of what I would get out of it. Hell, somebody would have to pay me $100 a month just to kennel a dog for them.

Skuna, next time I need a kennel, I'll call you. The going rate is $10 and UP per day - that's just to feed the dog and keep it penned up, so $100 a month would be dirt cheap! :D

Hey Mark,

I thought about buying the ball thrower for him that has the funnel on top. The dog drops the tennis ball in and it delays and then shoots it. Then I realized there's no telling what he might put in it.

I don't know much pricewise, but I do know some good and bad trainers that I'll be glad to share with you. Mary Newport, J Paul Jackson, and Trey Lawrence are the best ones i know if you want to go the hunt test route. For the field trial route, I don't know as many, but I know that Scott Harp in Hernando is one of the best. I believe he had a dog in the National Open last year. Also, Charlie Moody and Vernan Hathcock are in the Louisville area and are both very good.
