What it's all about

If I can catch as many of these as I can I am happy. A little Mahanna Sunrise make up for the rat race.

It really is too bad how far Mahanna has fallen in the past few years, but i guess that is what happens when it origionally got all the attention it did after opening. I can remember many many beautiful sunrises there, even before it became Mahanna when i was a member of Dry Bayou Hunting Club (early 80s) and was one of the few people who duck hunted out there. That being said, i hate hearing from people hunting there now of how the 0500 time has created a dangerous situation with none of the gentlemanness that has graced duck hunting for years. After i get back from Iraq i am sure i will probably still hunt Mahanna a couple of times next year, but i guess i will be looking for a camp to join as much for the camaraderie as for the hunting.

Msd1234......you are exactly right. That is what it's all about. Last weekend we were out a little extra early...setting the dekes out...looking out across them at a beautiful full moon....wind whistling real good...ducks flying around silhouetted against the moon....beautiful clear morning. What a true Kodak moment. Drinking coffee with my buds. So caught up in the moment I found I didn't want to even shoot, as time approached for the fear of spoiling it. What a Show!! neil
