I was wondering if any of y'all have hunted Mathew's Brake (south of Greenwood) this year and if there are good numbers out there.
Thanks

Lots of birds and not near as many people as I expected to see. All in all I have had some great hunts out there. If you get there early and get set up good you can too.

That depends on what numbers you are talking about. There is most definitely GOOD numbers of hunters. The last time I went, there were 33 trucks at the ramp.

I understand that I am new to this board. However, I am just trying to seek some friendly advice... firends and I will be jumping over from Auburn on the last weekend to try and enjoy some duck hunting.... My question is where should we try to set up? I used to hunt there with my Grandfather when I was little so i do have some knowledge of the area. Any help would be most helpful
Thanks

If I were you, I'd go to the north end, they are killing limits there everyday. Get next to the 3 huge cypress trees. That should work for ya.

I couldn't give you directions if I had too. The best advice you will get from this board is BE AT THE RAMP AT 12:01 AM if you want a chance at a spot on closing weekend.

What he said or you could try and hunt inside the closed area. I bet you would kill a limit if you could shoot

Screw the closed area. Sleep in. Wait untill midmorning and just walk down the gravel road.

go straight out in front of the boat ramp about 200yds and then take a right and go as far as your boat will take you. I guarantee you will see some ducks. Get as close to the dirt rd as possible.

Man i wish i could help ya out, but as soon as i do you will have ten people in there with "@#$%#" GPS markin all da sweet spots. And yes there are ducks there. Your best bet is gettin there a day or two early and doin some work. Just dont drive through nobody holes. They been known to shoot folks down dat way.
