BANDED PINTAIL

Sat morning ducks are flying great and I kill the first one that commits. I have two buddies with me and they haven't shot yet. We see a lone duck locked up and coming in, I tell my buddy

(teoc) who hasn't yet fired a shot to take him. When he shoots I notice the duck has a lot of white in his breast area, so I said he just shot a pintail. He goes to pick him up and lo and behold he is wearing jewelry.

Just the kind of lucky punk that he is!!!

I was happy for him though because I told him that I had never saw a banded sprig, and he should consider mounting him. I learned this morning that the whole Teoc family loaded up and went to the taxidermist Sat. I bet that was a sight!!. But anyway is this a rare occurence or has anyone else saw this before?

Oh, it was a miracle all right... a freaking miracle that he hit the thing. I bet he jumped out the blind and said, "I gotta get on him quick...."
Great job boys... wish I would have been there.
Deadeye... ain't killing nothing and ain't nothing dying.

No, he kept team morale up in the group by playing dumb and ingermane to the situation. He played like it was just another victim that he and his trusted friend old LUCKY had laid to rest.

Naw, it couldn't have been a miricle because that boy ain't right. I think that duck being by himself , mate had probably been shot, just had a deathwish. Ole lucky spoke up and talked loud on that one.

THey do band pintails still. From what I can tell not as much as mallards and BWteal but still banded. I killed one a few weeks ago, and we killed another last year, so they are out there. Congrats on the band, that is going to be a beautiful mount!

Well thank you there Jeff, i sure hope the mount is nice. As far as taking the whole family to the taxidermist, at my house a mount is just like another piece of furniture. Everyone has to go to pick out what is best.

Teoc, C-Man, Thats great to have hunts like that. You can do this when you have those good leases. I talked to you guys after your hunt Sat. and we didn't fire a shot. We were hunting public around Greenwood and the hunting is going south quick. The dozen ducks we saw were high and some butthead about 300 yards from us shot at them anyway.

The folks wanting to kill ducks on public land probably need to try another area because the Greenwood area has been hunted to death.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement.

A good lease is worth every penny. We might get the same lease next year.

Tired of OOS's that can't hunt to save their life screwing everything up. Good to hear from you.
