I'm going to make some decoys out of skinned ducks this fall and try them. Anyone ever heard of someone trying this? I know they will be fragile, but I just gotta give it a try.

I wonder how they will work in the water.
I would thing that would be a field decoy only.

You might be off your rocker Boeuf!
You duck huntin or playin in the mud?
Them things are gunna tip over, skins gunna pull off the form, someone is gunna Arkansas them with you sittin there, and/or the're all going to sink.
Not to mention if you have a dog... Good luck breaking him off of those on a water retreive...
Other than that, it outa work perfectly!
j/k
You might be on to something - I'll pull a couple birds outa the freezer and we'll see what we can come up with over a couple cold ones!

I've hunted over "stuffers" (stuffed canadas) before on eastern shore of Maryland. Logistics can be a real pain - storage in off-season, some guys have custom trailers with a compartment for each stuffer, can't store wet, etc. Obviously they do look great and the old timers swear by them.

I've hunted over stuffed mallards in MD and Canadas in WA. The Canada goose hunt was dry land, and the mallards were placed along the shoreline right in front of the blind.

don't tell anyone

but I tried it - no kidding- skinned them out ,dried them-used salt-glued them (4) on decoys- looked great!-lasted 3-4 trips-didn"t see any extra benefit-then the glue didn't hold- try an actual tanning soln and gorilla glue(i used the cheap stuff) maybe J-B weld. called the dog off 1-2 times ,,he figured it out.Glad i'm not the only one.
