Congrats! I got my Eagle Scout award when I was 15, some 25 years ago. My project...cleaning around and repainting every single fire hydrant in Prattville AL so the fire department could find them instantly. A lot of them were hidden by weeds and brush and all of them had paint that had faded. I swear there were were hundreds! I had a little wagon with yellow, red, orange, and green paint that I pulled through the neighborhoods one summer. I worked hard and got the gold, silver, and bronze palms too. That was pretty cool. It certainly prepared me for life in the fact that I really had to work hard to achieve something worth anything. I think the statistic was at that time that less than 2% of all scouts achieve the rank of Eagle. You are to be commended. They just don't hand those out for nothing.
I came across my Eagle Scout medal about 6 months ago after we moved. Brought back some great memories of a time in life when all I had to worry about was.....well, nothing!

Congrats on sticking with it. I got mine as well and know what you mean about all the distractions and other stuff you can be doing. My scout master said it was easy until the fumes got in the way, gasoline fumes and perfumes. Congrats again on getting it done.

And Contractors!
Good luck, i got mine when i was 16, me and my two brother are eagle scouts. Its something you will be proud of. I was at a convention about two weeks ago, there was about 450 people there. A speaker asked this question "how many in this room were involved in scouting?" over half the room raised there hands. his next question was this "how many achieved the Eagle Scout award?" and 5 raised there hands! Made me Proud!

Congratulations. You are completing a journey that many begin, but few complete. I received my Eagle in 1992 when I was sixteen. For my project I constructed a prayer garden at the Home of Grace in Eight Mile, AL, which is a home for battered and abused women. My project was done in conjunction with my best friend's project. He built a nature trail that began at the prayer garden.
I want you to listen to how people talk about their scouting experience. You will hear people say I used to be in the Boy Scouts or I made it to such and such rank, but will always hear a fellow eagle say I AM an Eagle Scout. It is an accomplishment you'll take pride in the rest of your life.
Dr. B, I didn't realize you were an eaglescout as well. I'm going to see our dentist friend this afternoon to talk a little duck hunting and get my teeth cleaned. We need to get together again for lunch one day before duck season.

Congratulations.... And I would encourage you to remain active in some capacity with the scouts after you get your Eagle. I got mine in 1976 and have been totally inactive until this year when my 6 year old son began as a Tiger Cub. I've really enjoyed participating again, and had forgotten what a great experience it is!
