Berretta Extrema

Postby Goodwin » Tue Nov 14, 2006 5:44 pm

What can you tell me about these shotguns? I've shot an 870 for years without any problems...just now that I can afford a better gun I'm ready to upgrade. Anyone ever have any problems with them? What are your likes/dislikes?

I looked at one when I bought my super x 2. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the placement of the safety.
It is in front of the trigger and I just didn't like that.
Other than that and the price difference, I liked it fine.

I have the Extrema and love it. Never had a single problem with it. You can expect to pay $1200-$1500 for the Extrema 2.
If you can find the original Extrema you can save a few hundred bucks. I saw one today for $899.
You do not the need the Kick Off butt plate system, just a raquet and not necessary.
Wise purchase.

don't tell wingman, but you can also fit four shells in it with the plug in. in the reciever, not the tube.

I purchased the Xtrema II in May of 2005 when they first came out. I got the black without the Kickoff and paid $1050. I wouldn't get the Kickoff. No problems whatsoever after several thousand rounds.

Bought one before dove season, best purchase I have ever made. Went with the extrema instead of the extrema II though.

I appreciate the advise. Sounds like I can't go wrong with the Extrema. My 870 may just have to be a back up. How is the recoil with the 3 1/2 inch shells?

I made the exact same jump from 870 to Beretta. Mine is four years old and works like a champ. I shot a ton of doves with fairly light loads this year and it did fine. The 3.5 shells are more kick, more noise, more everything. You can shoot them all you want esp. during the winter when you have some extra padding on your shoulder. I shot some this summer and they do put a bit of a whippin on you.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul
