Stay With Your Own Kind!

As usual, I come out on the short end! Had a group of 5 mallards working
this morning (3 drakes 2 hens). It looked like I was going to get some action.

Only one problem, there was a bull sprig with them. Every time that they were about to commit, that sprig would pull them off.

. That sprig should have been off with his own kind. I have never had any luck in a case like this. Any help would be good.

I got a "zero tolerence" policy for pintails that enter my airspace just for that reason. First pass splat.

If I'm reading this right and someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I can shoot a sprig if he comes in on Friday? I just don't want Mr. Greenjeans saying "What are you, stupid or something"
"Daily Bag Limit: A total of 6 ducks, with no more than 4 mallards (no more than 2 of which may be females), 3 mottled ducks, 2 scaup, 1 pintail, 1 canvasback, 1 black duck, 2 wood ducks, and 2 redheads. Possession limit is twice the daily bag limit."

Gadwalls are the world's worst at screwing up the mallards....at least when you shoot the sprig you got something.

Be ready for the first pass and shoot them if you can. Unless you are one some real open water.

I don't know which I hate more sprigs or gaddies. It seems that that mallets are more responsive to sprigs (which seem more wary) and care less about gaddies (which imo are too stoopid to lite sometimes). I give a sprig a pass or two then either stand up or powder his booty.
