I was wondering who on here may shoot one and how you like it. I’ve looked at Extrema’s but I have outgrown the urge to shoot 3 ½ inch shells at ducks and I’m considering a 390 instead. I know the Extrema has a lot more bells and whistles but I just don’t know about paying the big price difference since I won’t be shooting the 3 ½ inch shells. What’s y’alls opinions on them?

I got a 3901 in a trade, and didn't think much about it. I started shooting it last year and really like it. Shoots good, reliable and light (compared to the sp10). Get the one and spend the difference on premium shells.

I have one. If I shoot an auto, it's the 390. I have run thousands of rounds through it shooting clays, and it has never jammed or failed to cycle. It may be the toughest gun I've ever had. I've never needed the 3 1/2 but I don't goose hunt either.

Can't speak for the 390 (black bolt) that they sell at Wally World, but the AL390 Silver Mallard is the sweetest shooting, most reliable automatic I've ever shouldered.

And thousands of rounds have connected probably 100's of things (at best).

Thanks for the info guys. The one I’m looking at is advertised as a 390 “Sporter”. I have seen the Silver Mallards as well. What is the difference? Also would $400.00 be a good price for one in very good condition?

I've owned both the 390 and 3901, loved both of them. Academy Sports still has a few 390's the last time I checked.

Usually after you have taken your 3 quick cuts I have to do all that I can to catch up with them
