I have used Jesse Sheppard in Booneville/Tishomingo. He also runs a good many hunt test.

I hate to put a damper on anyone's views of steve, however, by personal experience, he has ruined one of my dogs. The dogs may look sharp after he gets done, but he put a real dent in my dog's spirit. He used the shock collar WAY TOO MUCH in force fetch. I had big hunting plans for that dog too... but I tell you that it is embarrassing when you take your dog to a hunt test and people think you beat her! She is so skiddish that it breaks all concentration and this behavior was never part of my dog's personality before I sent her to him. I will not completely disregard his potential as a trainer, but with that being said, one must have an extremely strong dog for him to train because he is hard on them.
The trainer I use now, in my opinion, is great. He takes into consideration the dog's personality to access the level of difficulty of training so that there will not be too much pressure on the dog... unlike Steve (who is hard on them regardless). He is not as well-known as Steve but that can be beneficial to the trainee because he has less dogs and more time to spend with each. My 6-month old puppy passed 3 started tests and 1 junior test and that is after he had had my dog for only 2 months!! His name is Freddie McCrory. He is located in Tom Nolen which is 30 min west of Starkville. You can look at his site if you are interested: http://www.outbacklabs.com
