Satellite Mallards...

Postby MAG » Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:47 pm

Found this tidbit of info on Waterfowler.com in the Arkansas feild reports... don't know if it's true or not...

"The G & F satellite mallards are still mostly north of us also. Some are even still in Canada. Don't be mislead by the map showing the location of the satellite ducks, as a friend found out that they put transmitters on some of them very recently when they were at Lake Dardenelle. Thus these are not necessarily ducks that came here from Canada."

I don't care where they came from just as long as they get here and bring their friends.

You can see the history of the movements of an individual duck...

I don't think Arkansas is trying to mislead anyone. They are putting out transmitters now, in order to track them in Arkansas over the winter. MDWFP will also be putting out transmitters within the next couple of weeks.

The two MS ducks that are showing up in Canada haven't transmitted to the satellite recently. If they are not picked up soon they will be taken off the map.
