got my puppy back in June and have been working with her all along but have come to the conclusion that I just don't have the patience or "know how" despite reading Water Dog and then watching the video to get my dog to the best of her ability. I've been pricing trainers that have been recommended by word of mouth to me as well as ones mentioned here on the board but the funds needed is a little intimidating by itself. Anybody know a trainer that is pretty reasonably priced or someone who does it on the side or something that they would recommend?

To me water dog is out dated I would go with smartworks by Evan Graham or Mike Lardy if you are still wanting to train her on your own. Steve Vires is the trainer I use and cant say enough about him just remember trainers are like anything else you get what you pay for and cut rate trainers is not the way to go.

Find a reputable pro nearby and ask if he needs any help. Throw birds, air dogs, heck clean kennels if you have to. Do whatever it takes and I'm sure the pro will help you with your dog. Good luck!

Join a club in your area. Amite River HRC is there. Get the smartworks books and read them. Get Lardy if you have money left over. You can do this. The club will have training days. Call someone on the website.
http://www.arhrc.com/index.html Go to the training day. They will help you and you will see then that this job can be done . . . . by you.
