Bastardi (Joe) believes that if the change in the weather pattern reaches its full potential, the onset of cold weather could result in "one of the top-five coldest 30-day stretches in the past half century."

Supposedly, this will start around 10 days from now. Check-out the local forecast for January 16th - on. This could be the 'shot' we've been waiting for......

Based on the last few years' weather patterns, allow me to be the first to call "bovine scatology" on that prognostication!!!!!! However, the next two mornings here will be in the 20's, so we can always hope.

I feel the same way most o'yuz do about weather predictions........'not getting my hopes up, either......I know better. When they start missing the temps by more than 10 degrees on a one-day forecast......and the weather pattern they say 'prepare for'.....never sets-up............I always rely on my best judgement when I walk outside to see what it's doing at the moment.

I just like throwing-out a glimmer of hope to those who think ducks will show-up here, if it gets below freezing one night. It just demoralizes folks who get their hopes up.......and maybe they'll STAY HOME!!

I wouldn't think that's so unusal a name for a weather man.......I'm sure they've been referred to as such (and worse) on a regular basis.

Even with a name like Bastardi, he has got to be right once in a while. Here is hoping this is it...

Looks to be setting up right for the final two weekends.

Looking at past years the last two weekends make the season or its hot and raining. As always though you can bet the birds will be here Feb 1.

That sure is a pretty picture.

I remember back in the heyday of the 3/30 seasons we used to see that weather map every week or so. Last season, our local weather man illustrated the jet stream with an arrow pointing due South straight out of Canada more than once. (a couple of times during the period of time between the season opener and about new years day) Then for some reason, the pattern shifted back to the westerly jet stream that we have been cursed with for the past decade or so.

Sure hope we get some of that action again.

Amen, Wildfowler I agree...the jet stream has not been right for quite a few years....
