I know it doesn't happen to everybody, but I lost a freind last week to oral cancer. He was a 34 year old father of three. The stuff started on his tongue. He had a peice of his tongue removed. Then a few months later it came back in his throat. Later after a disfiguring surgery, it was back, this time behind his ear. I sat with his wife last week while he took his last breath. Start to finish the ordeal to 23 months.
My friend was a practicing Christian and was ready to meet his Maker, but there are three kids ages 13,10 and 8 without a dad.
It ain't worth it!

Sorry to hear that about your buddy. That's a wake up call to me. I am 34 and have stuffed this crud in my lip since I was 12. I for one need to kick the habit.
I'll keep his family in my prayers.

Guys, give it up...now!!! I have one teacher friend who has lost part of his tongue, his entire gums and teeth on his left side, and he is taking radiation treatments now, hoping that this will stop it. The radiation will kill his saliva glands and he will always have to carry a bottle of water around because he will never be able to wet his own lips again. You tell me, is it worth the tobacco buzz? Nothing like a reformed chewer/smoker to preach at you, I know. But, It simply is not worth the consequences.

As someone who dipped for about 12 years I can say it was definitely worth the irritation and discomfort I suffered to quit. I'll say no more on the subject other than to say again, it was worth it.

I have to agree with you JT!! It really is worth it. I quit smoking 23 days ago. It's not easy, but reading this keeps me going.

I went to the doctor. He put me Wellbutrin SR. It's an anti-depressant, that takes the cravings away. It's working for me.
You ready for Ole Miss to come to town?

I guess because I "coached" for all those years, I thought that I had to dip or chew. I did both for over 25 years. A very bad and nasty habit. One day I just quit and that was over 6 years ago. Just do it. Jack

I quit about 3 months ago. I bought some back off, nicotine free dip. It took a little getting used to but it worked. It's easier to quit when you can still put somethng in your mouth and spit. I still buy a can of it every now and then when I need to spit..y'all should try it..At 1st it tastes bad, but you get used to it..

Peewee, I feel your pain! I too partook of the delicious weed. It's been years, but I can still taste it like it was yesterday.
Cannonball, in plug form was my favorite.
This is one time we made the right choice!
