its been awhile.
been awhile since i have been on here. some major computer problems. anyway just wanted to say in light of all the recent sniper activity and such, and with some elections coming up, i think we need to look at all the canidates running and go with the ones who will support the NRA. i know the anti gun people will have a field day with the recent happings so it is important to protect our right to bear arms probably more now than ever with the gun fingerprinting trying to make its way through. so lets all get out and vote and make our voices be heard. anyway nice to be on here again.

That all 200 million firearms lawfully possessed by Americans are brought into labs and fired to gather individual ballistic "fingerprinting." All firearms that will be purchased in the future will already have this done before you buy.
go to the http://www.nra.org to read more about this.

Gun fingerprinting is a process where every weapon has a ballistic pattern when it is sold (rifled grooves of bullet). Same as if everyone had fingerprints when you were born so you could be identified latter, no matter where your fingerprints show up.
Odd, don't you think, that this activity took place in Maryland, a state with some of the most stringent gun laws in the nation.

It's already starting. I had to set a woman straight at a convention last week. She started in on the whole "Does anyone need an assault rifle" I told her no and she thought she had won the argument. Then I had to inform her that we didn't need anything but food, water, and basic shelter. She didn't NEED that Lexus she was driving. She didn't NEED that Big house she lived in and she didn't need all that Jewelry she was wearing. It's not about needs, its about my right to bear arms. Guns don't kill people. You can outlaw and ban whatever you want , but crazy people will still be crazy people!!!!!

excellent rebuttle bigbear!!! To be honest with you I don't mind if they fingerprint weapons...at least it gives authorities a place to start. I know it won't solve every crime, but it will help with some. I also know that not every gun will get fingerprinted....crooks aint just gonna go hand their gun over I know that as well as anyone.

Good to see you back bubba
You can change the ballistics by making a mark in the barrel!!
It's just a bunch of bull!!
I think they should let everyone carry a weapon

I'm not an NRA member so I am not "up" on this issue. Should I as a hunter and gun owner be opposed to buying a gun that has been fingerprinted?
Unless this gun gets stolen from me, it's "gun fingerprint" will not show up in any crime scene will it? Nor will my fingerprints show up in any crime scene for that matter.
Will "gun fingerprinting" impact law abiding citizens in any way? To someone who is uninformed, this sounds like a good thing.
I wonder how much it would cost to "gun fingerprint" every gun owned by law abiding citizens in America today?
Is this really something I should be worried about? I don't have an anti-gun hidden agenda, I just want to know what the real issue is. I currently own 2 semi-auto pistols. So I am not just a "sporting gun owner" oblivious to the issues.
Thanks.

I am not real strong on the NRA since they depicted the ATF as the devil in the Waco raids. Their full-page add was pretty tasteless. My father has been involved in law enforcement for many years in one capacity or another. They are the good guys. Also - the alleged links to the militia groups that had ties to the ones responsible for the OK City bombing are another reason that they are not at the top of my list. I know that's like saying my brothers best friend's sister's boyfriend's cousin's....you get the picture - but still.
The point is that fingerprinting is a waste of your tax dollars. Who in the heck thinks that the legitimately owned fingerprinted weapons will not be stolen and used in a crime? Also - if the rightful owner commits a crime with a fingerprinted gun then they are more than likely going to get caught out of stupidity rather than from the fingerprinted gun being traced back to the owner. Take a look at the snipers. What a bunch of idiots...and by the way...if they hadn't put an "I am the sniper" tattoo on their forehead and the weapon was fingerprinted and they were the rightful owners of the weapon, they would still be shooting people in the grocery store parking lot today. Fingerprinting wouldn't have helped end this crime streak any quicker.
Want to reduce crimes committed by guns - solve the drug problem and enforce tougher sentences on those who commit the crime. Gun crimes are a symptom of the weak judicial system in larger metro areas - particularly DC where all of the law making left sit. Judge JB for President!! (of course after George Bush gets his two terms in

I believe, if you own or want to own a handgun, rifle or shotgun you should be a member of the NRA. You have to take the bad with the good. I think there is more good, preserving our right to own firearms, Than bad comes out of the NRA.
If they take our guns, are you going to care about taking you dog out to a ditch bank and watch ducks? If I can't hunt I'm not going to spend time and money on waterfowl habitat.
The NRA should get your first $25. Then DU, DW, and any other org.

Delta Duck good point about changing the ballistics. I read something the other day where if guns were fingerprinted all one would have to do is run steel wool down the barrel and you could throw that fingerprinting out the window. The real agenda behind fingerprinting is the anti's want you to have to registar all your guns. Then the next step will be to take them.
So all in all fingerprinting guns would be a total waste of millions of tax dollars and all your guns would probablly have to be registered.
