Am I the only one????

Postby Dutch Dog » Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:55 pm

Am I the only old school individual shooting aluminum arrows? Would you believe no bow shop in the Memphis area had the aluminum arrows I wanted. I'm not talking about some odd size either....2413's shafts only. (I build my own arrows) Had to friggin order them from Lancaster. Geeeeeez...where have I been.

I still shoot 'em. They are quiet, accurate and far straighter than most carbons.

I am going back to them this year, last year I had nothing but trouble with the gold tips....I was looking on bass pro website yesterday and I thought I saw where they had some aluminums in stock.
Thank GOD for everything!

I shoot a longbow and have to use alum's because the carbon do not have enough spine for my bow. I actually get my 2117's from Wal-Mart of all places!

You can try Bill's Archery in Pearl, he usually carries some or can get you some. I shot them for the longest time.

Got the arrows in a few days ago....got em all fletched up. I now have a drop-away rest so I went with helical vanes. I have normally shot feathers, but went with vanes this time because of their being more versatile. I don't have to worry about getting 'em wet, I can easily re-use them if I shoot a deer etc. I'll try them for a while, if I'm not satisfied, I'll just get out the ol' jo-jan and fletch me up some with feathers.

I went to ACC's because we used to hunt south Texas and shoot Havalinas and the arrow would go through them and bounce of the ground and when we found the arrows they were still straight. Aluminum wouldn't do that. That is the only reason that I switched. I've killed a hell of alot of deer with aluminum, not a thing wrong with them the archery shops just carry more carbon because they can make more money on them.
