Seems to be the meals of choice in that part of the country. We have tried many different blends in the past and they always hammer these the most so we just stuck with them this season.
As we clipped all the fields you could see that they had eaten every leaf off the Oakra and Cowpeas so they have been feeding well all summer.

I thought this was to take place in October??? I'm glad y'all did it early...before bowseason. I would have helped if I had known....or are you pullin our legs again.

You're always messin 'round with trail camera pics and stuff. I wrote that before speaking with you this afternoon....last thing I heard (as we talked about) the planting was to be done last weekend in October. I'm glad y'all did it early to let it get established, and the deer get use to using it. IMHO if you plant it late, as soon as it comes up the folks start hunting it and deer learn that it's a bad place to go instead of a good food source free from harassment by hunters. If you plant it early and a lot of them get to use to using it before getting shot at, it will be a more successful hunting plot. IF I had known y'all were gonna plant it, I probably would have bought a couple bags of some sort of Biologic to plant (just to try) and/or possibly some clover. I'm fairly certain that this year the acorn crop is going to be awful, so the food plots should be good for bowhunting.

aint enough acorns around here to feed a squirrel more than a snack.

Dan, I'm half done with mine. I spent all day Saturday spreading lime on my plots. Will finish planting mine in the next 2 weekends. So far, I've seen good acorns dropping from whites, pins and water oaks on my place. That's the ticket early on, then the plots will take over.

Yep, I think the summer drought has made the whites drop a little early..the ones with acorns are dropping. I have several whites next to a plot dropping nice size acorns on the plowed dirt... with cut hulls laying all around too...
Persimmons are loaded up too...
