I was looking around an old cypress camphouse in my county yesterday. I was told that there was a board on the wall with several hunters' names and how many ducks they killed on a day back in the 20's. I didn't find that board, but I found lots of names and dates. This was called the Starkville Club and was comprised of a lot of professors and other folks from Starkville.

Hard to read, but this one is from August 5, 1936.



Here's one from September 20, 1975. You might recognize the last one. Either he changed his first name or someone else wrote it and spelled it wrong.

that's really neat wingman. In some of the now refuges, you can find trees that people carved their names on when they were hunting in the 30's. I love history like that.

That is cool! I had a man from a club in Illinois tell me they got busted one season for the same thing. Boiled down to they keep to accurate of records and from what he said, when the warden checked them and saw the list on their wall and the number was right for that day, they tried to go back on the other days for that year.

From what he indicated, I think they may have had larger numbers on occasions!
